Hudson, WI Wedding Photography: Katie and Ross

I left a little piece of my heart in Hudson, Wisconsin. This quaint, riverside town was the backdrop to Katie and Ross’ cool, October wedding. Good stories usually accompany good people, and this wasn’t an exception for Katie & Ross (affectionately known by their celebrity couple name, Ka-oss… get it?). This couple comes with a courtship that spans across international waters. For the past few years they have been living in China traveling here, there and everywhere but were very excited to be stateside to start their next adventure…

Katie was the mastermind behind many of the Chinese influences tied into their Midwest nuptials… she might just have found her second calling–chopstick practicing stations anyone?

Thanks to Emily Steffen for letting me help her out with this one!

10 Things I Know to be True

A little personal project inspired by, Sarah Kay. As a spoken word poet, she performs her personal prose to anyone who will listen, and might I suggest you take a look yourself. Aside from her performances, she also takes the time to mold the minds of children and tours the country speaking to high schools and at workshops and the like. Well, thanks to TED, I’ve stumbled across one of the activities she has her students do and I’ve become quite fixated on the project. It’s simple, write down ten things you know to be true. They can be anything—the sky is blue, I love peanut butter, winter is approaching too quickly… whatever you believe is true—an-honest-to-God-truth… to you.

See the thing is, everyone has different truths. Some may argue that the sky isn’t blue. Some days it’s gray, and right before the sun sets it lights up with brilliant oranges and pinks… and there are a few crazy people that don’t like peanut butter…

So, I’m curious, what are ten things you know to be true? If you’re willing, send a response to me at hannah.hitchcock@gmail.com. Don’t worry, I won’t spread your name across the virtual world but I may use a few for a creative project I’m working on (identities will remain anonymous, unless you prefer otherwise). And yes, I’ll see them, and yes, they may reveal some side of you I don’t know about… but I’ll even the playing field by sharing my own truths first. And if you know of anyone who might want to partake… pass the info along…

Ten Things I Know to be True:

With all my heart, I love the ones I love.

Music, running, and coffee are tried and true forms of therapy.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating — in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life.”

You must always be curious.

Everyone is a work in progress.

Bad things happen to good people but the only way to understand it, is to avoid getting jaded.

Actions speak louder than words.

The things you think about right before you fall asleep mean a whole lot more than the ones you think about in broad daylight.

Classrooms come in different forms and should never be left.
